When children play outside, their pants quickly get a hole. Throwing away a pair of pants and buying a new one every time is expensive and unsustainable. This was also the case for Kathy Zahnd, a mother of three from Aadorf. The lack of attractive patches prompted her to start producing them herself. The result is called "Blätz." These are iron-on patches made of cotton, produced in Thurgau. Kathy Zahnd carefully selects the fabrics. They are then taken to the SoTu embroidery workshop in Gachnang, where the edges are embroidered in a round or oval shape and the back is printed with a special textile adhesive. Finally, Kathy Zahnd cuts out each individual Blätz by hand with fabric scissors. This handwork also serves as quality control. The designs change every few months.
