Association

Reparaturfuehrer.ch unites Swiss cantons, cities, and municipalities that want to promote and simplify repairs. Together, they are committed to giving as many items as possible a second life, avoiding waste, and thus conserving resources.

Story

In 1996, the cities of Bern and Thun published the canton's first repair guide as part of the "Repair instead of throwing away" project. At that time, it was a printed brochure.

In 2002, the brochure was replaced by the website www.reparaturfuehrer.ch.

In 2012, the cantons of Basel-Landschaft and Basel-Stadt, as well as the municipality of Köniz, joined the project.

In 2013, the repair guide was relaunched: The former website became an interactive repair platform. Blog, rating, and instructional features were added.

Between 2014 and 2017, the cantons of Zug, Solothurn, Lucerne, Thurgau, Zurich, and the other cantons of Central Switzerland (Schwyz, Uri, Obwalden, Niedwalden) joined the repair guide.

Following the accession of the western Swiss cantons in 2018, the repair guide was translated.

In 2018, the informal cooperation between cantons, cities and municipalities was transformed into an association.

At the beginning of 2019, the city of Biel and the canton of Ticino joined, making the website trilingual.

The goal of creating a nationwide repair service is almost achieved. New members are very welcome!
